In what was to be a season full of promise the Blue Jays have once again been afflicted by the usual suspects, injuries, an inexperienced bullpen and inconsistent performances during crucial moments of the season. It is evident that the Jays have talent and it has been shown with consistency throughout multiple series with the White Socks, who have dropped the last 16 of 19 games in Toronto. The White Socks have batted .198 overall and .178 with runners in scoring position these aren’t the kind of statistics you’d expect from a team trying to increase their lead in the playoff race. On the mound for the White Socks is struggling starter Jose Quintana (4-2, 2.78 ERA) who hasn’t won a game for the White Socks since July 5th. This is a great chance for Toronto’s sluggers like Edwin Encarnacion and Colby Rasmus to prove their worth to a team that is once again looking to rebuild for next year. The Jays offence has also benefitted greatly from young rookie hitter Moises Sierra who has been batting .375 on multiple nights since being promoted from triple-A. The struggling offence for the White Socks coupled with a young pitcher lacking confidence gives the Jays the edge to be able to clean this one up with relative ease.
Why the White Socks will win:
Although struggling offensively and having shaky, young pitching on the mound for tonight the White Socks are still the top team in the AL Central division for a reason. Even though their best performances haven’t come through in Toronto the White Socks are in dire need of wins where they can find them. Sports betting sites have given the White Socks great faith throughout the season and for good reason. With hitters like Adam Dunn who hit his league leading 32nd and 33rd home-run the White Socks are looking to rise to the occasion and widen the gap between them and the Detroit Tigers. With a Jay’s line-up that is missing big time hitters like Brett Lawrie and Jose Bautista the White Socks biggest job of the night will be to put numbers up on the board and grind the Jays out while finding their offensive touch.
